L'Oreal Nudist Matte Lip Paint Review

I feel like when any makeup product, especially a lip product, has matte in the name I am drawn to it and have to give it a try. L'Oreal recently released their Nudist Matte Lip Paints, £6.99 in 6 shades; 4 of the shades are nude shades, there's one red shade and one purple shade. As you can see I went for the purple shade which is 212 Nude-ist. Don't be fooled by the name as it defo isn't anywhere near a nude shade, as you can see by the swatch, it is a proper purple shade.

The Lip Paints are described as having a velvety, matte finish that lasts up to 8 hours. With no flaking, no caking and no drying out. The slanted teardrop shaped applicator allows for precise application.

I was surprised that the Lip Paints have a wand applicator from just looking at the packaging I thought it would be a squeezy tube like the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks have. But I am a big fan of the applicator as it makes it easy to apply onto the lips. The wand itself is soft as well, there is nothing worse than having a scratchy applicator applying your lip product!

It isn't the most opaque lipstick so you'll need a couple layers to build up the colour equally. Once it's on your lips it doesn't dry down at all and sits very comfortably on my lips. I feel like most drugstore lip products don't smell the best but this one surprisingly smells great. It stays really creamy on the lips so it does transfer whenever you eat or drink. Personally, I do prefer a matte lip product to dry down a bit so you can wear it throughout the day without having to bring the product with you and worrying about topping up.

So does it last for 8 hours? The answer to that is not really! Whenever I've worn it after a couple of hours I have to top it up again because I've eaten lunch and most of it has come off. Realistically most people are gonna come into contact with either food or drink before the 8-hour mark is up. I did try testing it out without eating or drinking and it does come fairly close to lasting 8 hours.

Overall, I do like that it's really creamy on so I don't have to worry about the condition of my lips while I wear it and it is a really pretty purple shade. I do prefer my lip products more drying just because they last a bit longer so that's why I'm probably not going to pick up any more of the colours up in the range. I do recommend giving the Matte Lip Paints a go if you don't like drying liquid lipsticks but still, want to wear matte shades and don't mind topping up throughout the day.

I have seen that L'Oreal have released the Lip Paints in two more formulations; metallics and lacquers. The Metallics have really caught my eye as they come in a couple striking shades. Have you tried out any of the L'Oreal Lip Paints?

  3. I haven't tried these yet, but been seeing them everywhere and after reading your review I think I might get some. I'm not a big fan of mattes that dry down completely as I have very dry lips, so I have to remove them after a few hours anyway before they start cracking and feel uncomfortable, so this sounds like a better option for me as I like the matte look too <3 The shadebis fab as well

  5. Love the colour you've chosen! I think I might get on quite well with these as I tend to rub my lips together a lot which is why I don't get on with drying ones, would love to try the metallics, they sound funky!

  9. How gorgeous is this shade? I have a really light nude shade from this range called 'Off-White' and I don't really like it all but I'm tempted to get this one just because of how beautiful that shade is! But I totally agree with all your points, they're not that great for a liquid lipstick, I had the same surprise with the applicator too!
