Rimmel Insta Duo Contour Stick Review

The Kim Kardashian contour sticks have been everywhere at the minute, I've watched so many youtube videos on them! I decided not to buy them because they seem very expensive for the little product you get in them. I saw on Insta a couple of weeks ago a dupe for them which is the Rimmel Insta Duo Contour Stick, £6.99. They have apparently been out before the Kim K ones, but I've never heard anything about them before?! I thought I'd buy it and give it ago as I've really been into my cream contour and highlighting products recently.

The shade range of these duo contour sticks is really not big at all. They only come in Light, Medium, and Dark with not much difference between the shades. All the contour colours are warmed toned which is a bit annoying because I prefer to use a grey brown to contour with. I went with the Medium shade as the highlighter on the dark one looked a bit too dark for me.

The highlighter shade is such a nice champagne shimmery shade, I wasn't sure if this would suit me because I've been sticking to white highlight shades but it gives such a natural healthy glow to my skin. I think it is the perfect amount of glow for my nose, cupids bow, forehead, and chin but I prefer a more of a blinding glow on my cheeks. So I've been layering a powder highlight on top and it blends very nicely on top of the cream.

I've been using the 'contour shade' to bronze up my face and blending out the contour I wear which at the moment is from Makeup Revolution, you can read about that product here). I think it's great at adding a bit of warmth to my skin and when blended out defo does not look too orangey. One place I do use it for contouring is my nose as it is the perfect size for it.

Normally with cream contour products, you tend to put them on before powdering your foundation. But I've found it's better to use the sticks after powder because that way it doesn't make your foundation slide around. To blend in the products with the highlighter side I've just been patting it into my skin with my fingers. With the contour side, you can use your fingers too but I prefer to blend it in with a small fluffy brush.

What I was really suprised about was how long these cream products lasted on my face without being set in place with face powder. They lasted 8 hours!! Which is such a long time for cream products to stay in place and not slide around.

Overall, I do really like this product and I think it's great for summer as it makes skin look naturally radiant. It's a great one to throw into a travel makeup bag and do in a rush as it takes seconds to blend out nicely. This is defo one to check out if you are on the paler side, can pull off the orange undertones and like a really healthy glow. Have you tried out any contour sticks?

  10. I've never tried any cream contour products at all as I get a bit worried I won't be able to blend them out well enough but this actually looks really good, I'm super pale though so I imagine I'd be going for the light one... such an affordable price too!!
